The GP Mazda Schelkens has moved up from a 1.2 to a 1.1 race for the first time this year. A relatively flat race hosted around Borsbeek on the outskirts of Antwerp, it’s a short jump from the Antwerp Port Epic to the following day’s event. A Monday is an odd day for a one-day race but in the Netherlands, it’s Whit Monday and a national public holiday. With everyone off work and school anyway, it starts to make more sense!

We should get another sprint finish this year after the 2 previous editions have worked out that way. The first edition in 2021 was won by Danique Braam from a group of 16 riders. Last year’s race was won by Dina Scavone from a much larger bunch of 76 riders. Marthe Truyen is probably the pre-race favourite after finishing 2nd and 3rd in previous years and being in some good form at the moment. The Belgian was 3rd at Veenendaal-Veenendaal recently.

The race both starts and is live from 1pm BST/2pm CEST
